Texas armadillo with Confederate flag

I don’t know why armadillos are associated with “The South Shall Rise Again,” but there are plenty of graphics out there that have armadillos draped in a Confederate flag. Certainly the animal is widespread in Texas, and I see them often around my house. They are nasty little critters I think, since they are carriers of leprosy and can transfer it to humans. They are also, in a way, brave critters. When threatened, they curl up in a ball, with their armor plated shell surrounding them, and in a way say “Go ahead if you think you can hurt me, just because you have an advantage.” This pin is old, and I got it at a rodeo in San Angelo, TX.
