Lions from San Angelo serve at the Acuna Mexico clinic

This pin (another huge Lions pin) emphasizes the work of Lions in Texas, especially District 2-A1 in the Acuna, Mexico, eye clinic. Glasses are cleaned, the prescriptions read, and then transported to the clinic across the border from Del Rio to provide eyeglasses to poor people in Mexico. About once a year the clinic provides free cataract surgery and people come from scores of miles to wait patiently in line to have the surgery. It’s great work.

One of the most active Lions took a load of glasses in his truck across the border and was stopped by Mexican customs. He was jailed for smuggling until the Acuna Lions heard about it and pulled the right strings to get him out.
