Slovakian Coat of Arms Pin

The Slovakian coat of arms features a double silver or white cross on top of a three-peaked blue mountain. A red background lies below the cross. The cross is known as the patriarchal cross and originated in Byzantium. One theory purports that the cross represents the nation’s role as a guardian of the Christian faith.

The three mountains represent the mountains of Matra, Tatra, and Fatra. The Slovakian coat of arms has been used on the nation’s flag since 1992. Red, white, and blue are Slavic colors. See Slovakia
